When I enter a family is an email automatically sent to the parent or do I have to send them an invite?

Dear user,
Yes, an email is forwarded to the parent when you register a family manually. Parents receive an email notification with a link to create a password to log in to their account.
You may also send an invite to the parents from Step-4 on Settings page to let them setup their own account.
